If you have a spirit for adventure and a love and appreciation for nature, there is a must-do activity to add to your Yellowstone bucket list: snowmobiling! Specifically, a guided snowmobile tour of Yellowstone National Park in winter; a sight most visitors never get to experience.

Winter in Yellowstone is nothing short of magical, and for good reason. The crowds are at an absolute minimum while nature remains in full display. Under a thick blanket of snow, the Park becomes virtually silent, broken only by the hiss of steam from thermal features, the burble of flowing rivers, and the occasional whine of a distant snowmobile. You will feel like you've got the whole Park to yourself, but that's only half the fun!

The other half comes from the thrill you can only experience on a snowmobile. You will feel the rush of wind as you speed through the snowy landscape, while marveling at the natural beauty of majestic mountain peaks and icy waterfalls. You will get to see bison, elk, and other wildlife foraging for food under layers of snow. And to top it all off, you'll witness one of Yellowstone's star attractions in a setting few visitors will ever see; an eruption of Old Faithful geyser in winter.

In case you're wondering, riding a snowmobile is not difficult or scary; it's been said that if you can steer a lawnmower, you can pilot a snowmobile, and our professional certified guides will teach you everything you need to know before you head out on your guided tour. All of our snowmobiles are automatics, so you won't need to worry about clutching or shifting gears, making this an easily accessible activity for most visitors. Snowmobile clothing and helmet rental is available on-site (you will need both), and boxed lunches can be pre-purchased as well (requires 24 hour advance notice).

So what is it actually like to ride a snowmobile? Check out our video and photo gallery below, and read our Frequently Asked Questions page for more details.
